Rede de Sementes do Xingu é referência no Brasil

A demanda por sementes nativas para trabalhos de restauração florestal em larga escala pela Campanha Y Ikatu Xingu fez surgir a Rede de Sementes do Xingu, em dezembro de 2007. A Rede tem participação de agricultores familiares e índios, envolvendo 350 coletores de 17 municípios e 13 aldeias indígenas que têm na coleta de sementes uma importante fonte de renda. Em sete anos, a iniciativa comercializou 119 toneladas de sementes florestais e gerou R$ 1,344 milhão em transferência direta de renda às famílias envolvidas. Hoje, a Rede de Sementes do Xingu é uma referência em coleta, beneficiamento e comercialização de sementes florestais no Brasil.
