The Vale do Ribeira Programme aims to contribute to building a regional development model based on social and environmental wealth of the Atlantic. In partnership with local maroon associations, municipalities and civil society organizations, proposes and implements sustainable development projects, income generation, conservation and improving the quality of life of traditional communities in the region. Covers Basin Iguape Ribeira River, and the Estuary Complex of Iguape-Cananéia-Paranaguá, located in the southeastern state of São Paulo and eastern Paraná State.
Among the various publications program launched over the years, we highlight the Environmental agenda Quilombo the Ribeira Valley and the territorial Participatory Planning. The agenda, published in March 2008, was built in a participatory way with 14 communities, so that each of them developed and systematized a strategic planning for sustainable use its territory, scoring its main dreams, and potential. Among the actions taken are the socioeconomic diagnosis of 14 maroon communities involved in the project, the account of the requests, the mapping of territories that have materialized in the publication available for download here.
Have the Participative Territorial Planning was conducted between 2010 and 2012 in the quilombos of St. Peter and Dry Hill. The methodology, conducted exercises and activities are summarized in the publication, available for download here.
On 23 August 2013, the program launched a new publication: Cultural Inventory of Ribeira Valley Quilombos also available for download here.
